This is one of Amber’s new favorite wines.

Previously known as Domaine Michel Esmonin et Fille, Sylvie, after working side by side with her father since 1990, has recently taken over the estate entirely. When she began work with her father the domaine became all estate bottled and she put her oenology education to work.

75 year old vines from their best plots are used for this cuvee. This Gevrey is seductive. A very lovely VV.

Burghound 90 and Outstanding! “The extra ripeness that old vines often achieve is evident here in comparison to the prior wines as the earthy dark berry fruit is notably riper and this ripeness carries over to the concentrated, intense and sleekly muscled middle weight flavors possess buckets of sap that more than buffers the firm but not hard finishing structure”.
Tanzer 90 “Bright dark red. Dark cherry lifted by spices on the nose; slightly liqueur-like, then creamy-sweet and deep, with very good density and more energy from whole-cluster vinification. Seems fresher than the regular village wine but the acidity level is similar, according to Esmonin. Finishes ripe and sweet, with lingering notes of smoke and chocolate. Drink this now or hold it five or six years”.
