Vineyards sources were more carefully selected in the 2006 vintage with a good portion of the fruit coming from our three best vineyards, Conner-Lee, the vineyard we have managed for nearly 25 years and the two Red Mountain Vineyards, Ciel du Cheval and Klipsun. In addition to vineyard selection, we sorted more carefully, cold soaked our red wines for up to 5 days before fermentation to more gently extract flavor and color without tannins and finally an upgrade to three year air dried French oak from two year air dried to continue to enhance the texture of our wines. Each of these individual efforts had a significant impact on the overall quality and lasting impression of these wines.
The 2006 Foreshadow Merlot continues a long tradition of rich, robust, and structured Merlot’s and will certainly benefit from additional cellaring; however as is true with all of our red wines, they can be enjoyed immediately by decanting or simply opening the bottle an hour prior to consumption.
