Burghound 89 “Here the nose is earthier still with fresh, pure and dense aromas of red and dark berry fruit that are nuanced by subtle hints of game and underbrush, both of which continue onto the rich, full-bodied and quite serious flavors that are supported by more robust tannins and fine length. Not surprisingly, this doesn’t possess the refinement of the Volnay but it does have the complexity and length.”

Burghound 93 – Sweet Spot Outstanding - “As one would reasonably expect, this is completely different as it displays rose petal, red fruit and subtle wet stone notes that continue onto the vibrant, naturally sweet, precise and tension-filled flavors that are admirably focused, textured and wonderfully persistent. This is really very fine and understated but there is plenty of wine here and fashioned in a style that will require aging. In a word, terrific.”

Outstanding – “This is quite a bit more elegant with a beautifully nuanced aromatic profile of admirably pure and cool red pinot fruit, earth and stone that is trimmed in a deft touch of wood. The intense medium weight flavors that are built like those of the Pézerolles, which is to say precise, fresh, balanced and finely detailed yet here the intensity is dialed up ever further and there is more overall depth and length. A show stopper of a wine that is a gorgeous combination of power and finesse but note that lots of patience will be required.”
