Maison Leroy
Corton Charlemagne 2004
Burghound 95 – Don’t Miss – “A positively gorgeous and impressively refined nose of green apple fruit, pear and a distinct floral note complements perfectly the unbelievably complex and hugely powerful flavors that seem to be carved out of a solid block of stone. This is a massive wine that is textured, concentrated and muscular yet it remains precise, pure and balanced with a finale that seems to go on and on without end. One of the great wines of the vintage and one that will live for years. Don’t touch it for at least five years and it will easily improve for ten.” Drink 2014+

Meursault 1999
“Poruzots”
1er Cru White
Maison Leroy
Meursault 1996
Burghound 92 – Outstanding – Tasted July 2006 “This is still very fresh with only the initial hints of development to the airy white flower and hazelnut aromas that give way to rich, pure and gorgeously precise flavors that culminate in a mineral-infused and impressively linear finish that lasts in the mouth for several minutes. A stunner of wine that is still improving.” Drink 2010+
Maison Leroy
Meursault 1986
Burghound 89 – Tasted July 2006 - “A fully mature nose that reflects the noticeable botrytis notes of the vintage is followed by rich, full and sweet flavors that display a hint of sous bois and a very dry but long finish. This will most please those who enjoy fully mature whites that offer obvious secondary characteristics.” – Drink Now
Maison Leroy
Nuits St Georges 1986
Burghound 89 – Outstanding – Tasted April 2006 “A big step up in aromatic complexity with a pungent mix of iron-infused earth and plenty of underbrush that adds nuance to the secondary aromas and continues onto the delicious and unexpectedly refined flavors for what this is. There is good length and while it remains an ’86 in style and structure, it’s a good one.” Drink Now+

Maison Leroy
Beaune 1976
1er Cru Red
Burghound 88 – Tasted March 2010 - “An expressive and notably ripe but not roasted nose displays ample secondary fruit, sous bois and earth aromas that lead to delicious, concentrated and attractively complex medium plus weight flavors that culminate in a velvety finish where the underlying structure is still relatively firm. This is still quite vibrant with plenty of life left and displays better balance than many ’76s at this point.” – Drink Now

Vosne Romanee 1976
1er Cru Red
Burghound 91 – Outstanding – Tasted April 2006 – “A decidedly more elegant, more refined and more complex nose that is spicy, pure and mostly if not completely secondary and gives way to rich, full and punchy flavors that are velvety, long and completely coat the mouth as there is remarkable concentration and enough potential that this could easily benefit from another 3 to 5 years in bottle. Indeed, the balance and underlying material are such that this should last for another 20 years.” Drink 2010+

Chapelle Chambertin 1966
Grand Cru Red
Burghound 93 “An expressive nose that is an attractive mix of heavy sous bois, earth and obvious spice and game notes that are also picked up by the elegant, detailed and seductive medium-bodied flavors that offer really wonderful complexity and outstanding length. Like most ’66s at this point, the Chapelle has clearly peaked but it’s holding well and still offers a really lovely drinking experience. Another recent bottle was similar save for a slightly thinning finish.” Drink Now

Meursault 1966
“Poruzots”
1er Cru White
Burghound 88 “A complex and fully mature nose of dried fruit, particularly apricot and lemon also displays traces of oxidation though I stress that it’s subtle and not really bothersome unless one is judging purely from a technical point of view. The rich, full and round flavors still possess the typical size, weight and robustness of a classic Poruzots and while time has taken away some of its power and finishing punch, this remains a delicious drink. I would be drinking this over the next 5 years as it has nowhere good to go. Multiple bottles tasted.” Drink Now
