Luciano Sandrone is one of Piedmont’s top growers. Many of his wines are approachable while young but still have incredible aging potential. Last week I had the opportunity to taste through their lineup including the 2003 Barolo Cannubi Boschis. All I have to say is “WOW!!!”

Parker 89 “The 2007 Dolcetto d’Alba is a gorgeous, layered wine loaded with perfumed dark fruit. This sumptuous, richly-structured Dolcetto should drink beautifully over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2011.”

Tanzer 91 “($35; bottled in December of 2006; aged in 500-liter casks) Bright ruby. Cassis, blackberry, violet and bitter chocolate on the nose. An explosion of juicy, spicy black fruits in the mouth, with superb ripeness perfectly leavened by strong acidity. The very long finish hints at shoe polish and leather. This wine now includes some barbera from high-altitude sites in Monforte, which Sandrone purchased in 1999″

Barolo Cannubi 2003
2003 NOT IN STOCK – Please Call or Email about Current Vintage Availability
Parker 92 “Sandrone’s 2003 Barolo Cannubi Boschis reveals smoke, tar, licorice and dark plums with superb balance and a vibrant, engaging personality. Made in a sweeter, richer style than Le Vigne, its notable depth and well-integrated tannins make it one of the vintage’s successes. I have a slight preference for Le Vigne over Cannubi Boschis today but both wines are among the finest in this vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019.”
