This weekend we are featuring two wines that you should definitely have on hand for your next party. The white will please any white wine drinker because it is well balanced between creaminess and strong acidity. The red wine has great structure but is not so overpowering.
Niepoort
Twisted 2007
Douro, Portugal
Was $19.99, Now $9.98
WS 88 “Firm and muscular, with a leafy edge to the intense berry and dark cherry flavors. Interesting ripe citrus notes fill the midpalate, and this finishes with portobello mushroom and spice notes. Drink now through 2014.”
The Spectator rating is from 2009 and this wine has settled down significantly since the review was written. We tasted it yesterday and it was fun and very approachable. Great party wine.
The Crossings
Sauvignon Blanc 2010
Awatere Valley, Marlborough, New Zealand
$11.99 (if purchased this Saturday) – Normally $12.99
No rating for 2010 Vintage
2009 Rating – WS 89 “This is generous with its grapefruit and celery seed flavors, which linger on the deftly balanced finish.”
We just tasted the 2010 vintage and it was a fantastic blend of two styles – grapefruit and grassy. This bottle of wine will go down quickly so I recommend buying at least 2 bottles.
Stop by between 10-5 to take advantage of these specials.
Thanks
Katie
