Although we don’t yet have ratings of the 2007 Varner, many people in the industry agree that the 2007 vintage for California Chardonnay was outstanding.  I am going to list the ratings for the 2006 vintage so that you understand the greatness of these wines.

Varner
Amphitheater 2007
Chardonnay
Central Coast, California
2007 NOT IN STOCK – Please Call or Email about Current Vintage Availability

2006 Rating Parker 91 “The 2006 Chardonnay Amphitheater Block comes from 27-year-old vines aged in about one-third new French oak. It is a gorgeous wine, with poached pear, caramelized peach and apricot notes, and background minerality. It is fresh, full-bodied, powerful, yet at the same time, elegant and long. This wine should drink well for another 5-6 years.”

Varner
Bee Block 2007
Chardonnay
Central Coast, California
2007 NOT IN STOCK – Please Call or Email about Current Vintage Availability

2006 Rating Parker 93 “The youngest vines, the 21-year-olds, make up the 2006 Chardonnay Bee Block. This is also the largest production item at 500+ cases. Medium to full-bodied, with notes of waxy, caramelized nectarine and, oranges, in addition to lemon oil and crushed rock, this wine has beautiful texture and a full-bodied, long finish. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.”

Varner
Home Block 2007
Chardonnay
Central Coast, California
2007 NOT IN STOCK – Please Call or Email about Current Vintage Availability

2006 Rating Parker 93 “Even better is the 2006 Chardonnay Home Block, which comes from the owner’s Spring Ridge Vineyard, but from 28-year-old vines. It has more tropical fruit, fuller body, a complex mouthfeel, with lots of exotic fruit notes such as mango, orange, and even a hint of pineapple. This wine should drink beautifully for 5-7 years.”
