Many of us in the wine industry agree that Washington State is a rising star wine region. An area that is sandwiched between the rich, opulent wines of California and the delicate ones of Oregon. Large production to the south and boutique wine making to the north. Washington easily could find itself becoming schizophrenically confused between deciding which model to follow. Luckily for all of us, the winemakers in this state have chosen to follow their own path.
Unlike California, Washington State has a shorter growing season which has helped keep alcohol at a palatable level (in our opinions at least). Many regions in the state are very arid which helps keep the temperatures stable throughout the growing season. This, along with very strict irrigation rules, allows for the vintages to maintain consistency each year.
